European Article Number (EAN)

Overview: European Article Number (EAN) is a standard numbering system used in global trade to identify a specific retail product type, in a specific packaging configuration, from a specific manufacturer. EAN barcodes are used worldwide for lookup at retail point of sale, sales inventory management, wholesale ordering, and accounting.

Purpose: European Article Number Request

Main specifications:

• EAN Numbers are required to sell goods in Europe
• separate unique EAN is required for each type of product/packaging
• each EAN is registered in the official EAN Register, where anyone can find and identify your product, and get its specifications
• provided in blocks of 5 numbers
